Blackhead Treatment
Acne is commonly caused in the individuals having an oily skin. It is often seen that as the blackheads develop in the skin, it gets transformed into the problem of acne which is worse than the problem of blackheads. In the human skin special type of glands are present that are responsible for releasing the ‘sebum’ oil like substance. This secretion is an advantage for human but when the cells lining the ‘sebum gland’ it self plugs out the ‘hair’ the micro organism ‘Propionibacterium Acnes’ gains easy access to the interior portion of the hole where the ‘hair follicle’ was plugged in. As the micro organism enters into the hole an anti – inflammatory reaction follows where a number of leukocytes get released to counter the entry of micro organism. This inflammatory reaction finally results into the spread of infection in the area present around that region. This is followed by a growth of hair follicle. These hair follicles then slightly grow further and get exposed to the environment. As it gets exposed to the environment, oxidization reaction takes place which finally cause that ‘whitehead’ to convert into a ‘blackhead’.
Earlier due to misconception thee was a strong feeling that the blackheads were caused by lack of proper cleaning of the skin. But in reality this is not true. It is actually caused due to the combination of ‘oil’, ‘dust’ as well as ‘dead skin cells’.
Various ways are mentioned on the internet and other accessible sources for the removal of blackheads but the right as well as safe procedure needs to be followed in order to remove the problem in a safe manner. The methods are mentioned below:-
- The main target to remove the blackheads is to catch hold of the root cause. The root cause in case of blackheads is the oily skin. Various topical solutions are available for this purpose. A gentle washing should be done with these topical products otherwise it would only worsen the condition. Avoid the use of solutions containing ‘mineral oil’, ‘alcohol’ as well as ‘petroleum based additives’. These mentioned chemical substances would not only remove the blackhead but also the skin. This would further stimulate the sebum glands to secrete more oily substance.
- Another medication present in the market which holds great potential in the removal of the blackheads from the skin is ‘exfoliant’. This product moves deep into the skin, makes the hair follicle soft and removes them form the skin. It can be used according the growth of the blackheads on the skin. If the growth is less then it can be used twice a week but if the growth is too much then it can be used 5 times a week after consultation with a dermatologist.
- Also another point needs to be kept in mind that it is wrong to squeeze out the skin containing the blackheads. This act will not lead to blackhead removal. It will lead to an inflammatory reaction as the dead cell would penetrate deep into the skin.
